Evidence of Life was a community art project and installation undertaken with unhoused and housed community members in Berkeley and Oakland. Individuals created body prints of their own design on used bed linen. The sheets were then installed outdoors at Expressions Gallery in Berkeley, CA for the group exhibition, Creativity Unhoused in March 2019. The installation was intended to invoke the remaining artifacts and signs of occupation often left behind when an unhoused person is told to leave their encampment. Hidden in the margins, behind benches and plants, these signs, if examined closely, often hold evidence of the lives of individuals - evidence as individual as a human fingerprint.
